DC Lahore launches major crackdown on profiteers, properties sealed

Lahore: Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ijaz, the district administration has intensified its citywide crackdown against profiteers and hoarders. Price control magistrates conducted inspections at 6,389 locations, imposing fines worth Rs871,000 for overpricing and related violations. Authorities registered 14 cases, sealed 12 properties and arrested 24 shopkeepers during the enforcement drive. Officials say improved monitoring of the supply chain has helped stabilise essential commodity prices, supported by increased arrivals of potatoes, onions and tomatoes in wholesale markets. The administration has vowed to continue strict enforcement to ensure compliance with official price lists and provide relief to consumers.
