Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority has cancelled and withdrawn with immediate effect the approved layout plan of Bahria Town Phase III-E and Phase IV in Zone-5, Islamabad. CDA’s public-notice portal now formally lists the cancellation, while the authority’s earlier regulatory record says the scheme’s required NOC had not been issued.
According to CDA documents, the layout plan covered about 2,999 kanals and had originally been approved in December 2010 subject to conditions. CDA alleges that the developer failed to complete the requirements for obtaining the NOC and proceeded with development and plot sales before securing it. The authority also cited alleged violations involving plots reserved for public amenities and unauthorised commercial construction.
CDA has also said it is suspending processing and approval of other Bahria Town cases and has directed its enforcement and building-control wings to proceed against structures it considers to be in violation. This does not mean every structure has already been demolished; the latest development is primarily a regulatory cancellation and enforcement direction.
Bahria Town disputes the decision. A company official told Dawn that the cancellation was “illegal”, saying a revised layout plan had been submitted and that the developer intends to challenge the CDA action through available legal forums.
