On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, an anti-smog gun is being used to spray a fine water mist at public places and busy markets in Rahim Yar Khan as the city faces extremely hot weather. Pakistan Meteorological Department data forecast a maximum temperature of around 43°C for July 11, with the minimum near 33°C. The locally manufactured anti-smog gun is mounted on a tanker carrying approximately 16,000 litres of water and can spray fine droplets up to 100 metres, primarily helping suppress airborne dust and providing temporary localized cooling. Authorities are using the equipment as an immediate relief measure, although residents are still advised to avoid prolonged outdoor exposure, remain hydrated and take special care of children and elderly people.
