WASA ordered to complete desilting by June 15

Muhammad Muzamil Awan : Lahore: Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza has directed officials to complete the desilting campaign by June 15, with mechanical desilting of sewerage lines to be carried out through modern machinery. He ordered the mandatory provision of gas detectors and other safety equipment and stressed full implementation of issued SOPs. Officials have also been directed to provide photographic evidence of SOP compliance during desilting operations. Daily reporting has been made mandatory, while assistant directors will be responsible for desilting and deputy directors will monitor the work. A dashboard has also been created for each assistant director, and the Punjab Housing Secretary will monitor the campaign. The move can reduce monsoon flooding risks and protect roads, properties, and commercial areas. Can timely desilting improve Lahore’s drainage resilience?
