US Business Delegation Meets Punjab Agriculture Minister

A US business delegation met Punjab’s Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani in Lahore to discuss investment opportunities and bilateral cooperation in the agriculture sector. The delegation showed keen interest in agricultural machinery, poultry, cattle farming, and allied areas. The minister highlighted that Punjab produces around 70 percent of Pakistan’s food and remains the backbone of the national economy. He noted that the government is providing Rs30 billion in interest-free loans to farmers and has invested Rs66 billion to upgrade agricultural machinery, while encouraging the production of tractors above 85 horsepower. He also shared updates on introducing balers and super seeders, livestock vaccination and tagging for exports, and the formation of dedicated working groups to facilitate sustainable foreign direct investment.
