Unsafe Development Work at Bhati Gate Causes Hardships for Traders

LAHORE: Ongoing development work at Hujveri Market near Bhati Gate on Circular Road has created serious difficulties for shopkeepers and buyers due to unsafe excavation. An 8 to 10 feet deep and nearly 800-meter-long trench has been dug along shop foundations, making access to shops extremely difficult. Exposed iron rods inside the trench have caused injuries to several traders, while customers are unable to enter the market. Circular Road President Khawaja Adnan said traders support development but strongly oppose unsafe execution. He added that despite assurances of quick completion, work has been delayed without safety measures. Traders have demanded immediate protective arrangements, round-the-clock work to complete the project, and safe access routes to protect livelihoods and public safety.
