Sharjah has initiated a $38 million (AED 140 million) bridge project aimed at improving traffic flow and road connectivity in the emirate. The three-lane overpass, located at the intersection of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street and Maliha Road, will handle up to 4,000 vehicles per hour and reduce travel time by nine minutes.
The 500-metre bridge is part of a broader infrastructure expansion plan, including upgraded roads and transport facilities. Once completed, the bridge will increase capacity to 7,000 vehicles per hour per direction, supporting Sharjah’s growing population and mobility needs. Officials expect the project to enhance traffic management, reduce congestion, and contribute to the emirate’s smart city initiatives.
