Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has opened more than 900 kilometres of new roads through 40 infrastructure projects completed during the first half of 2026, marking a major step in the Kingdom’s transport expansion drive. Led by the General Authority for Roads, the initiative is designed to improve connectivity, reduce travel times, enhance road safety, and support tourism, logistics, and economic growth. The projects span key regions including Makkah, Madinah, Asir, the Eastern Province, and Qassim. Officials say the programme also includes smart road monitoring systems, AI-powered maintenance solutions, and improved transport services under Vision 2030.
