RDA Proposes Mega Development Along Rawalpindi Ring Road

The Punjab government has proposed extensive development along both sides of the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR), allocating 500 meters on each side for economic zones, a medical city, tourism hubs, wholesale markets, and a truck terminal. In a meeting chaired by RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza, officials discussed a comprehensive land-use plan aimed at easing urban congestion and driving regional growth. The proposal includes developing industrial areas, a dry port, an expo center, transport terminals, and an agro-forest park to strengthen Rawalpindi’s infrastructure. Kinza Murtaza said the project will not only decongest Rawalpindi and Islamabad but also improve environmental quality, generate employment, and enhance city life. She emphasized sustainable planning and directed submission of detailed proposals by month-end.
