Punjab traffic fine reduction bill awaits governor approval

Ali Raza Wajid : Lahore: The Punjab Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, passed by the provincial assembly on April 21, is currently awaiting approval from the Governor of Punjab. The proposed amendments aim to reduce traffic fines across multiple vehicle categories. Under the bill, motorcycle fines for minor violations will be reduced to Rs1,000, while the maximum fine will be capped at Rs2,000. Car and jeep fines for minor violations will drop from Rs5,000 to Rs2,000, while major violations will remain unchanged. Heavy vehicles, including buses and trucks, will see maximum fines reduced to Rs10,000. Officials confirmed that the bill has been sent for final approval, after which the revised penalties will be implemented.
