Punjab to digitize land-use monitoring through AI

Muhammad Muzamil Awan :Lahore: Punjab Special Spatial Planning Authority has decided to gradually shift land-use monitoring to artificial intelligence as part of a wider digital governance plan. The meeting, chaired by Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique, reviewed PSPA operations and directed that the authority be fully digitized and linked with the e-Biz portal. Officials said planning support systems will help identify violations, while commercial use of land will not be allowed without authority approval. The minister said Punjab’s master planning has created a verified database for cities, supporting better zoning, green area protection and urban regulation. This can directly affect real estate approvals, commercial development and investor confidence. Can AI-based planning bring transparency to Punjab’s land market?
