Punjab signs major railway upgrade deal with Pakistan Railways

Lahore: The Punjab government has signed a major agreement with Pakistan Railways to modernize the railway system and improve travel facilities across the province. Officials stated that the project includes the launch of a fast train service along with modern trains on eight new local routes. Authorities highlighted that Pakistan’s first fast train will operate between Lahore and Rawalpindi, completing the journey in just over two hours. The project also includes multiple intercity routes connecting key districts, aiming to reduce travel time and improve regional connectivity. Experts believe that the initiative will enhance mobility, boost economic activity and support infrastructure development across Punjab by improving transport efficiency.
