Punjab releases new free medicine budget for major Lahore hospitals

Lahore: Punjab Finance Department has released additional budget for free medicines in major public hospitals of Lahore to ensure better treatment facilities for OPD and emergency patients. According to details, Rs. 274 million has been issued for Lahore General Hospital, Rs. 256 million for Jinnah Hospital, Rs. 269 million for Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and Rs. 268 million for Services Hospital. Officials say the funds have been made online and transferred from the Health Secretary’s account to the respective Medical Superintendents’ accounts for hospital-level use. Timely medicine funding can reduce pressure on patients, improve public healthcare delivery, and strengthen confidence in government hospitals. Can this budget improve free treatment access for Lahore citizens?
