Punjab to receive 1,100 electric buses by August 15 under green transport push

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that 1,100 electric buses will arrive in the province by August 15 as part of the government’s wider plan to modernize public transport and promote environmentally friendly travel. Officials say the project is aimed at giving commuters a cleaner, more efficient, and more comfortable transport system while reducing air pollution and dependence on fuel-based vehicles. The introduction of electric buses is expected to improve urban mobility, strengthen daily commuting, and support Punjab’s broader sustainability goals. Better public transport can also benefit commercial zones, residential connectivity, and investor confidence in growing urban areas.
