Punjab promotes low-cost housing, ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ gains global recognition

Lahore: The Punjab government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting low-cost housing initiatives, accelerating efforts to provide affordable homes to citizens. Speaking at an international conference organized by PHATA, Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin stated that the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program has received global appreciation as a model welfare initiative. He highlighted that public-private partnerships are being encouraged to boost investment in the housing sector, while interest-free loans and easy installment plans are being offered to low-income groups. Officials also emphasized the adoption of sustainable housing models, including green building practices and energy-efficient construction, to address rapid urban population growth and long-term housing needs.
