Punjab plants 150,000 trees along Lahore Ring Road to curb pollution

Lahore: The Punjab government has planted over 150,000 trees and plants along Lahore Ring Road as part of a major initiative to combat climate change and environmental pollution. Officials stated that the plantation drive, carried out over the past ten months, includes geo-tagging and digital verification of each plant through modern monitoring systems. Key interchanges including Niazi Shaheed, Quaid-e-Azam, and Mian Nawaz Sharif have already been covered, while additional plantation is ongoing on major stretches. Authorities have also developed oxygen pockets along the route to improve air quality. The government has directed further plantation of 30,000 trees by June, aiming to reduce smog and enhance urban aesthetics.
