Punjab orders strict monitoring of Ramazan bazaars, markets

Lahore: Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman has directed Deputy Commissioners across the province to conduct proactive visits to fruit and vegetable markets and Ramazan Sahulat Bazaars. Officials must ensure availability of essential commodities and strict enforcement of official prices. The Chief Secretary has sought performance reports from districts and warned of action against DCs who fail to carry out inspections. Authorities have also been ordered to intensify crackdowns on hoarding and overcharging, with arrests of violators. Shopkeepers and vendors must prominently display official rate lists, while district administrations will be held responsible for compliance during Ramazan.
