Punjab launches “She Threads” program for rural women

Lahore: Under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s initiative, “She Threads,” the Punjab government has allocated Rs. 310 million to empower rural women economically through the textile sector. The program provides stipends of Rs. 15,000 per month along with transport allowances for women aged 18–45 across the province. “She Threads” offers ten different textile training courses, including industrial stitching, fabric quality inspection, pattern making, garment finishing, and apparel supervision. So far, 2,500 women have completed courses over two years, with 773 immediately gaining employment. Currently, 1,150 women are in training, with plans to enroll another 1,350 next year. The initiative aims to make women financially independent, skilled, and a valuable asset to Pakistan’s textile industry.
