Punjab Launches ‘Model Village’ Program, Tenders Issued for 336 Villages

The Punjab government has accelerated work under its flagship “Model Village” program, selecting 469 villages across ten divisions to receive modern civic facilities. According to Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq, tenders have been issued for 336 villages, while development work has already been awarded for 114 villages, with engineers and sub-engineers appointed on-site. The program includes paving village streets on Lahore’s model, installing water supply and sewerage systems, developing parks, restoring traditional ponds, and using decorative tiles for improved aesthetics. The initiative is being implemented under the vision of Maryam Nawaz. Officials said Phase Two of the project will commence next week, aiming to eliminate unpaved streets and significantly upgrade living standards in rural Punjab.
