Punjab launches major plantation drive from Thokar to Jallo in Lahore

Lahore: The Punjab government has launched a large-scale plantation drive under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, covering the stretch from Thokar Niaz Baig to Jallo. The project includes planting over 10,000 flowering trees such as Amaltas, Tabebuia, Bottle Brush, and Gul-e-Nasrat to enhance the city’s green landscape. The initiative was inaugurated at Johar Town’s Field of Flowers, where officials highlighted its role in improving environmental sustainability and urban aesthetics. Authorities stated that the plantation will contribute to reducing pollution levels, improving air quality, and promoting eco-friendly urban development. The project is part of broader efforts to transform Lahore into a greener and more livable city.
