Lahore: The Punjab government is considering a major increase in monthly subsidy for students studying in more than 13,000 schools affiliated with the Punjab Education Foundation. According to details, the current subsidy of around Rs. 1,250 per student may be increased to Rs. 2,050, while schools showing strong academic results and better performance could receive up to Rs. 3,000 per student. Around 4 million students are enrolled in these PEF-linked schools, making the proposal significant for low-cost education access across Punjab. Officials say the final announcement is expected after cabinet approval and may be formally made by the Chief Minister. Can higher subsidies improve school quality and student outcomes?
