Punjab Appoints Judges to Protect Overseas Pakistanis’ Properties

The Vice Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab, Barrister Amjad Malik, has announced that judges have been appointed in special courts across 37 districts of Punjab to address illegal occupation of properties belonging to overseas Pakistanis. Speaking at a media briefing at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Manchester, he stated that a dedicated department, PERA, has been established to reclaim illegally occupied properties and assist overseas citizens. Under CM Maryam Nawaz’s directions, a facilitation center has been set up on Mall Road Lahore, and over 26,000 complaints have already been resolved. Barrister Malik added that Pakistani consulates will soon receive registrar powers to ensure transparent property transfers and eliminate power of attorney fraud. He also highlighted the launch of a one-window facility housing NADRA, land, police, and property departments, as well as an online land transfer system. PERA has successfully vacated 1,000 illegal occupations so far.
