Property file system declared illegal, PLRA verification mandatory before buying

Lahore: The government has declared the buying and selling of property files illegal, introducing strict verification requirements through the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA). Under the new system, buyers must ensure that any plot is officially verified by PLRA before purchase. Authorities will confirm whether the housing society actually owns and possesses the plot before allowing any transaction. Officials stated that the policy has already been implemented in Lahore on a trial basis and will be expanded to other cities across Punjab after the trial phase. The initiative aims to eliminate fraud, improve transparency and protect buyers from fake or non-existent property transactions.
