PRA intensifies service tax recovery from private housing schemes

Mubashir Rana : Lahore: The Punjab Revenue Authority has accelerated its campaign to recover service taxes from private housing schemes, focusing on major societies in Lahore and Rawalpindi. During a high-level meeting chaired by Chairman Mumtaz Iqbal Sapra, divisional commissioners were directed to strengthen enforcement actions and complete scrutiny of service-providing companies’ records. Officials reported significant tax recovery from leading housing projects, highlighting concerns over underreporting and irregular payments. Authorities emphasized strict monitoring of tax returns and warned that fraudulent practices in monthly tax submissions will not be tolerated. The initiative aims to enhance revenue collection, ensure transparency, and regulate financial compliance within the housing sector.
