Pakistan and UK agree to expand trade and business cooperation

Islamabad: Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal met British High Commissioner Jane Marriott to discuss strengthening Pakistan-UK trade relations and business cooperation. Both sides reviewed the possibility of converting the Pakistan-UK Trade Dialogue into a stronger institutional economic framework with clear sectors and timelines. Jam Kamal said Pakistan is pursuing tariff reforms, digitalization, and regulatory improvements, adding that predictable tariffs and affordable industrial raw material can support SMEs and exporters. The meeting also highlighted emerging markets for Pakistani products in Africa and Central Asia, along with cooperation in standards, certification, environmental requirements, and value addition.
