Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Climate Change Dr. Musadik Malik held an important meeting on climate risks, monsoon preparedness, flood response, and disaster management. Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb presented the “Punjab Climate and Disaster Resilience Plan 2026,” while officials agreed on stronger coordination between the federal and Punjab governments for early warning systems at least six hours before extreme weather events. The meeting also reviewed plans for centralized information screens at district and tehsil levels, mock exercises, flood logistics, heatwave advisories, controlled tourism, and upgraded PDMA and Rescue 1122 systems. Strong disaster planning can protect homes, roads, crops, infrastructure, and investment confidence. Can Punjab’s climate plan reduce future flood losses?
