LESCO Ends Installment Facility on Current Electricity Bills

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has withdrawn the installment facility for current electricity bills, marking a major shift in its recovery strategy. According to official sources, consumers will now only be allowed to pay arrears in installments, while ongoing monthly bills must be paid in full. NEPRA regulations permit two installments per year, but LESCO has suspended the option to meet its urgent recovery targets. The utility is intensifying its crackdown on defaulters and has begun disconnecting electricity connections of consumers who fail to pay their dues. Officials stated that reconnection will be granted only after all outstanding arrears are fully cleared. The move comes as LESCO struggles to enhance revenue and stabilize its financial performance.
