OGRA Approves Gas Price Increase for Current Fiscal Year

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has approved an increase of up to 7.14% in the average gas prices for the current fiscal year, reversing earlier claims of a potential reduction. According to OGRA, the new tariff sets the gas price for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) at Rs. 1,852.80 per MMBTU, while the price for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has been fixed at Rs. 1,777.02 per MMBTU. Officials clarified that despite earlier suggestions of an 8% decrease, the updated tariff reflects a clear upward adjustment due to rising financial requirements and revenue shortfalls within the gas companies. The increased prices will apply after government notification and are expected to impact domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers.
