Lahore: Central Business District Punjab has entered its fifth year as a major urban-development project on and around the former Walton Airport site. The project was officially groundbreaking on February 26, 2021, when it was presented as Pakistan’s first Central Business District. A circulating video now claims the project has attracted Rs120 billion in private-sector investment, received around Rs40 billion in government-backed infrastructure, and generated 150,000 jobs. However, these three cumulative figures could not be independently verified from current CBD Punjab disclosures reviewed. What is confirmed is substantial physical development: CBD Punjab says the Kalma Chowk project, Walton Road upgrade and Route 47 infrastructure have been completed, while other residential, commercial and office projects remain under development.
