Lahore anti-begging crackdown nets 76 in three days

Ali Raza Wajid : Lahore: City Traffic Police Lahore’s anti-begging campaign has intensified, with 76 professional beggars detained over the past three days. Acting on CTO Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi’s directives, special teams targeted key traffic signals and intersections. Among those apprehended were 20 women, 17 men, 15 children, and 24 transgender individuals. Authorities handed over 70 individuals to Edhi Homes, while six children were shifted to the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau. Officials stated that operations are also aimed at dismantling organized begging networks, with support from Safe City surveillance. Citizens have been urged to report such activities via helpline 15 to ensure safer and smoother traffic flow.
