Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transport Department has started planning an inter-district BRT-style bus service using the motorway, aimed at connecting Peshawar with Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi and Charsadda. Officials say a feasibility study will be initiated to determine the routes, estimated project cost, station locations and other technical requirements. The motorway option is being considered because authorities believe BRT-style operations could be easier there than on the heavily used GT Road. However, the scheme is still at the planning and feasibility stage and has not yet received a final route, budget or launch date. The proposal builds on KP’s broader BRT expansion policy. Earlier in April, the provincial government reviewed extensions towards Charsadda, Nowshera and Khyber under its 2026-27 development planning.
