Punjab Accelerates 2,778 Water Filtration Plants in Major Clean Water Push

Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered faster completion of 2,778 new water filtration plants being established across nine districts as part of the province’s clean drinking water programme. The districts under review include Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rajanpur, Talagang, Attock, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Rahim Yar Khan and Chakwal. The chief minister reviewed progress during her sixth consecutive meeting on clean-water provision. Officials reported that 570 of 702 plants had been completed in Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan, 902 of 1,180 in Talagang, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Attock, Murree and Chakwal, and 749 of 892 sites in Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar. The programme also includes RO and ultrafiltration plants for areas affected by saline groundwater.
