Islamabad: A high-level Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, has arrived in Islamabad for crucial peace talks with the United States. Officials stated that the negotiations, hosted by Pakistan, aim to strengthen the fragile two-week ceasefire and move toward a lasting agreement. The Iranian delegation, consisting of 70–80 members including diplomats, security officials and economic experts, was formally received at Nur Khan Airbase by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir. Ghalibaf emphasized goodwill but expressed caution, highlighting Iran’s key demands including sanctions relief, rights over the Strait of Hormuz and regional ceasefire measures. The US delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance, is also arriving for the high-stakes discussions. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif termed the talks a “make-or-break” moment, as tight security remains in place across Islamabad. Experts believe the outcome could significantly impact regional stability and global energy markets.
