Goods transport fares raised 5% after fuel price hike

Ali Raza Wajid : Lahore: The Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance has announced a 5 percent increase in freight charges following a rise in petroleum prices. President Malik Shehzad Awan criticized the continued fuel price hikes, stating that transporters are facing severe financial pressure. He urged the federal government to abolish toll taxes, withholding taxes, and traffic challans to provide relief to the sector. According to him, operating costs for a single trailer trip have increased significantly, with monthly expenses rising sharply due to higher fuel prices. He warned that without policy revision and financial support, many transporters may halt operations, which could disrupt supply chains and further increase inflation across the country.
