Dubai RTA Says 95% of Road Network Assets Are in Excellent Condition

Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) says 95% of the emirate’s road-network assets are now classified as “excellent” under its Asset Condition Index, highlighting the condition and readiness of Dubai’s road infrastructure.

The assessment covers more than just asphalt quality. RTA says its system stands out in five areas including full asset coverage, quantitative condition assessment, use of LiDAR and artificial intelligence, automated data extraction, annual assessment of the entire road network and integration with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

RTA combines smart systems with field inspections, traffic data, customer reports and preventive-maintenance schedules to identify where repairs are needed first. Many maintenance operations are carried out overnight to reduce disruption to motorists.

By early June 2026, RTA had completed maintenance and rehabilitation of around 17 kilometres of asphalt roads across nine streets and six areas, covering highways, arterial roads, industrial, commercial and residential streets, as well as a cycling track.
