Decision on free public transport extension expected Monday

Ali Raza Wajid : Lahore: A decision regarding the continuation of free public transport services in Punjab is expected on Monday as Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has called an اہم meeting on the matter. According to sources, the Transport Department has recommended extending the facility for another month and has submitted a detailed plan. The proposal includes Orange Line Train, Metro Bus, Speedo, and electric bus services. Officials stated that the initiative was introduced to provide relief amid rising fuel prices, benefiting hundreds of thousands of commuters daily. Data shows around 290,000 passengers use the Orange Line, over 100,000 use Metro Bus, and nearly 800,000 people across Punjab benefit from free travel each day. A phased withdrawal is suggested once fuel prices stabilize.
