Date Announced to Make Islamabad Pakistan’s First Free Wi-Fi City

Islamabad is set to become Pakistan’s first free Wi-Fi city, as the government confirmed that 30 free Wi-Fi hotspots will be installed across the capital by December 2025. The National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) briefed the National Assembly’s IT Committee, stating that work is progressing rapidly. These hotspots will be placed in key public areas, markets, and government buildings to provide students and citizens with easy access to high-speed internet. Officials said the initiative aligns with the government’s efforts to strengthen nationwide digital infrastructure. NTC currently serves over 3,000 institutions in more than 100 cities and will manage and operate the new system. CDA’s technical team will support the project’s execution, marking a major step toward transforming Islamabad into a technology-friendly smart city
