Dar heads to Shanghai as Pakistan joins WAICO founding members

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has departed for Shanghai, China, on a two-day visit from July 16 to 17 to attend the signing ceremony for the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization. Pakistan is joining WAICO as a founding member, with Dar expected to sign the agreement on behalf of the country and participate in the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference. The visit highlights Pakistan’s push to engage in global AI governance, digital cooperation, and inclusive technology policy at a time when AI is becoming central to economic competition.
