Chinese group plans major investment in Punjab electric vehicles sector

Lahore: A Chinese investor delegation from Aerospace Development Industry Investment Group met Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain to discuss investment opportunities in the province’s electric vehicle sector. The group expressed interest in establishing assembly plants for two, three and four-wheeler electric vehicles in Punjab. Plans also include manufacturing and installing EV charging stations across the province. Officials highlighted that several EV assembly plants are already operational and the government is promoting electric mobility through initiatives such as the e-taxi scheme. Authorities said the project could strengthen industrial infrastructure, encourage technology transfer and position Punjab as a regional hub for electric vehicles.
