Islamabad: A Chinese afforestation model developed in the Taklimakan Desert is drawing attention as a potential solution for Pakistan’s Thar Desert. Officials and experts highlighted that large-scale plantation efforts in Maigaiti County have successfully stabilized sand dunes and created green belts in one of the harshest desert environments. Authorities noted that techniques such as drought-resistant plant selection, drip irrigation and sand stabilization have contributed to the project’s success.
