Chand Raye village turns into Lahore’s dumping site

Lahore: Residents of Chand Raye village report that the area has become a dumping site for Lahore’s garbage over the past two years, despite the “Suthra Punjab” cleanliness initiative. Locals complain of smoke, dust, and severe environmental pollution caused by burning waste, which affects air quality and public health. Multiple requests to authorities and district administration have so far not yielded a permanent solution. Citizens urge Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to halt dumping within residential areas immediately and implement measures to restore environmental safety. This issue highlights the need for sustainable waste management and urban planning in growing cities.
