CDA to Regularise Illegal Housing Schemes in Islamabad After Policy Review

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced that housing schemes previously declared illegal in Islamabad will be regularised through a structured process. The assurance was given during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior, chaired by MNA Raja Khurram Nawaz, where CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf informed members that consultants are being hired to complete the regularisation framework before implementation begins. The committee was also attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Aqeel Malik and Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon. During the meeting, lawmakers stressed that many of the affected housing schemes were developed on privately owned ancestral land without complaints from buyers and therefore deserved legal recognition. The committee also discussed lifting restrictions on property registrations in Khanna Kak, Khanna Dak, Shakrial and surrounding areas, while infrastructure issues, including damaged roads in Sher Dhamial, Gora Mast, Bamtrar and Kirpa Road, were also reviewed.
