CDA Begins Relocating Nearly 200 Sohan Cemetery Graves for New Islamabad Link Road

The Capital Development Authority has reportedly started the process of relocating graves from Sohan Cemetery as work progresses on a new link road connecting the Sohan side with Gulberg Greens. The planned road runs parallel to the Islamabad Expressway, and the proposed alignment affects a section of the cemetery containing nearly 200 graves. Recent reporting says CDA has asked families and legal heirs to identify affected graves so the relocation process can proceed.

According to the available report, identified graves are being shifted after consent from the concerned legal heirs. Assistance for affected families reportedly includes ambulance support, preparation of replacement graves and other facilities required during the relocation process.

However, the available reporting also raises questions about how cases involving families who do not consent will be handled. I could not independently locate a detailed current CDA public notice specifically confirming all of the reported Sohan relocation procedures, so the “nearly 200 graves” figure and consent-process details should be attributed to current media reports rather than presented as a fully verified CDA policy document. CDA’s official public notices can be checked through the CDA Public Notices portal.
