Budget 2026 Youth Allocation Rs. 32 Per Person Sparks Criticism

Islamabad – PPP leader and Member of National Assembly, Sharmila Faruqi, has criticized the Federal Budget 2026–27 for its minimal support toward youth development. She highlighted that only Rs. 5 billion has been allocated for Pakistan’s approximately 163 million young citizens, which averages just Rs. 32 per person. Faruqi compared this to basic costs, noting that a samosa in Islamabad costs around Rs. 40, emphasizing the government’s low prioritization of youth in the budget. She described this allocation as insufficient for empowering the nation’s young population.
