Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has announced plans to develop a museum and upgrade facilities at the historic 16th-century Chaukhandi Tombs to boost tourism and heritage preservation. Mayor Murtaza Wahab has directed officials to prepare a detailed feasibility study, construct protective boundary walls, and improve surrounding public spaces. The initiative focuses on safeguarding the intricately carved sandstone tombs while enhancing infrastructure, visitor accessibility, and on-site amenities. Authorities aim to attract both domestic and international tourists through improved site management and presentation. The project is expected to be executed within the year, reflecting KMC’s broader commitment to reviving and preserving Karachi’s important historical landmarks.
