Punjab moves to regulate real estate with digital system and RERA framework

Lahore: A consultative session was held to establish a real estate regulatory framework in Punjab under the proposed RERA Act. The session, organized jointly by PLRA and LDA, was attended by key stakeholders including public and private sector representatives, developers and urban planning experts. Officials stated that a uniform digital system will be introduced across the province, making property transactions paperless through PLRA software and mandatory green certification. Authorities highlighted that developers will be shifted to the new system within one month, while facilitation centers will also be established for housing schemes. Experts believe these reforms aim to enhance transparency, prevent fraud and restore investor confidence, particularly among overseas Pakistanis. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing the real estate sector and improving governance through digital transformation.
