NA committee questions Rs 465 billion Lahore-Bahawalnagar motorway cost

Islamabad: A National Assembly committee has raised concerns over the Lahore-Bahawalnagar motorway project after its estimated cost surged by over 75 percent to Rs 465 billion. Lawmakers questioned the financial viability of the project and directed authorities to reassess funding mechanisms, including the feasibility of a public-private partnership model. A subcommittee has been formed to review the project’s scope, cost escalation, and potential federal funding options.
