UAE: The country is set to enter ‘Jamrat Al Qayth’, the hottest and driest phase of summer, from July 3 to August 10. Over these 40 days, temperatures are expected to reach 41°C–43°C in coastal regions, exceed 45°C–46°C inland, and surpass 50°C in desert areas during heatwaves. The period will bring scorching sunshine, low humidity, and hot, dry samoom winds. Experts warn that metal surfaces and vehicles exposed to sunlight can heat up to 70°C. Authorities advise residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during peak hours, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses. Can urban planning and public awareness mitigate risks of extreme summer heat in the UAE?
