Skardu Airport expansion plan includes new terminal and cargo hub

Skardu: A major infrastructure upgrade has been proposed for Skardu Airport to accommodate rising passenger traffic and strengthen cargo operations in northern Pakistan. The plan includes expansion of the existing passenger terminal, construction of a new terminal building, development of a modern Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, and establishment of a dedicated cargo terminal and fire station. If approved, the project is expected to improve operational efficiency, enhance passenger experience, and support the growing tourism sector in Gilgit-Baltistan. The upgraded airport could also boost regional trade and improve connectivity between northern areas and major cities. Could this expansion transform Skardu into a leading tourism and aviation gateway for Pakistan?
