The Sindh government has decided to add 50 double-decker buses and 500 electric buses to its public transport fleet. Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon said the initiative aims to modernise commuting, provide more comfortable travel and reduce the environmental impact of conventional transport. Officials have also been directed to identify suitable government land for bus depots and future mass-transit projects in different districts. Earlier reports had confirmed approval of 500 electric buses for Karachi, while the latest plan expands the fleet with double-decker buses as well. The government has stressed that procurement and operational preparations should be completed as quickly as possible.
